Welcome to the Okeechobee County Property Appraiser Web Site.

Exemptions
It is the duty of the Property Appraiser to administer all exemptions.
Exemptions are applied for and determined annually.
The application deadline is March 1 of each year.

Tangible Personal Property Tax
Tangible Personal Property is everything other than real estate that has value by itself.
Anyone in possession of assets on January 1 of each year will need to file a Personal Property Tax return.

Elected Official
W.C. "Bill" Sherman is our Property Appraiser, his office is supervised by the Florida Department of Revenue. The Property Appraiser is elected every four years by the citizens of Okeechobee County.


Important Dates to Remember
January 1 - date of assessment and blank forms are mailed to taxpayers.
January 1 thru March 1 - Widow/Widower and disability exemption applications are take for mobile home and improvements. You must reside on said property as of January 1st of the Tax Year and be a resident of Okeechobee County.
April 1 - filing deadline for Tangible Tax return (with no penalty applied).
August - TRIM notices mailed out.
September - Value Adjustment Board petition filing deadline.
November - Tax Bills sent out by Tax Collector.
